Garden Education for Children
Garden and Greenhouse Club at Gale Community Academy
Since 2016 A Just Harvest has partnered with Gale Community Academy to bring their K-8th grade students hands-on educational programming that connects them with nature, food and the world of plants. Through these programs the students foster a curiosity about and respect for the natural world, the life of plants, and the source of their food.
The Garden and Greenhouse Club is led by our very own AGUA Apprenticeship Team, giving the apprentices an opportunity to teach what they have been learning and to gain confidence in their new knowledge and skills by mentoring young children. The educational programs run year-round moving between our indoor and outdoor learning spaces depending on the season!
Some of the students’ favorite activities include: planting seeds, planting vegetables and flowers, propagating houseplants, watering, weeding competitions, observing bugs and animals and more!!
Garden Club at Eugene Field Elementary School
A Just Harvest is happy to announce a new partnership with Eugene Field Elementary School! As of the summer of 2021, AJH is running a summer and afterschool Garden Club. Working with the current infrastructure of the school, this program focuses specifically on native plant habitat creation throughout the campus.
